Simple and Healthy Homemade Jello Recipe
Did you know that jello makes a healthy snack for kids and adults?
Wait! Let me explain: My homemade jell-o recipe is healthy because it’s free of added sugar and artificial sweeteners. In addition, it’s made with healthy grass-fed gelatin and 100% fruit juice. Added bonus – it’s super easy to make!
Homemade Jello – Better Taste, More Nutrition
When I was a kid, I loved eating pudding and jello for snack or dessert. I mean, what kid doesn’t love these fun, yummy, sweet treats?
Of course, now that I’m a mom who tries to keep my family’s snacks as healthy as possible, I know the boxed stuff fails us on nutrition.
(Check out my homemade chocolate pudding and homemade vanilla pudding recipes, too.)
I’m sure you know by now that Jell-O is full of sugar, artificial flavors, and artificial colors. Â You probably don’t want to feed it to your children and you don’t want to eat it yourself. Â But, would you believe that gelatin is actually good for you?
Gelatin Adds Important Nutrients to Our Diet
That’s right.  Gelatin from grass-fed animals is part of a nutritious, real food diet!  It contains anti-inflammatory components and works wonders for skin, hair, nails, and joints. Grass fed gelatin even helps heal your gut.
My best tips for how to prevent a stomach virus include consuming foods with gelatin.
We get a lot of gelatin through homemade bone broth, but sometimes we enjoy a sweeter way to get gelatin in our diet. My homemade jello recipe makes such an easy, healthy snack or dessert.

Here’s the Recipe:
Ingredients
3 cups of organic fruit juice of choice (We like red grape and white grape best. Apple makes a mildly flavored gelatin and orange is good, but not translucent. We go with pomegranate or cranberry around the holidays. )
3 TBS grass-fed gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
Optional – Whip some heavy cream with a little coconut sugar and a pinch of salt for a more decadent dessert.
Instructions
Heat juice to boiling
While waiting for juice to heat, dissolve gelatin 1/4 cup of water
Wisk gelled mixture into juice until melted
Pour into dish or mold of choice
Chill until set
I make homemade fruit snacks by adding more gelatin to the juice. I double the amount of gelatin and cut the final product into squares or into other shapes with a cookie cutter.
