Secular Homeschool Curriculum

One of the most commonly cited reasons for home schooling  is religion/spiritual beliefs.  Currently, the world of American home schooling is dominated by politically conservative Christians. Evangelical Christians have broken the way for the rest of us, made homeschooling more common and helped to it viable schooling choice for American families.

However, a growing number of home schoolers are not home schooling for religious reasons and consider themselves to be secular home schoolers regardless of their religious affiliation or lack thereof.  I am a secular homeschooler and understand first hand how difficult it can be to find suitable curriculum that does not have a religious, conservative Christian, point of view.  In fact, this difficulty finding secular curriculum has led me to create my own home schooling curriculum for the past couple of years.

Secular Homeschool Curriculum

Whether you prefer to use a pre-made curriculum or workbooks that you put together yourself to make a complete curriculum, there are several options from which to choose.  I’ve compiled a list of secular home school curricula.  Some of these are complete curricula and some focus on one or more particular subjects. Some are for all grades and some cover specific grade levels. Some of them are actually Christian-based but do a great job of being flexible enough for secular homeschoolers to use them as well.

This list will be updated as I discover more secular homeschool curricula.  If you use a curriculum that is not on the list, please leave a comment at the bottom of the post and I’ll get it added.
